Roger Ehrenberg, Co-Founder

Roger Ehrenberg is the Founder and Managing Partner of Eberg Capital, a pioneer in bridging the gap among sports franchises, sports betting, media and entertainment. Roger's current sports investments include stakes in the Miami Marlins, Real Salt Lake, Alpine F1 Racing, Betr, Commonwealth, Kero Sports, Simplebet, SlamBall, smarkets and WagerWire. Roger is also the Founder of IA Ventures, among the most successful seed stage venture firms of this generation, having seeded companies including Datadog (NASDAQ: DDOG), Digital Ocean (NYSE: DOCN), The Trade Desk (NASDAQ: TTD) and Wise (LSE: WISE.L). Previously, Roger spent 17 years on Wall Street and trading, starting his career at Citibank in M&A and derivatives before moving to Deutsche Bank to lead equity derivatives structuring and marketing. His last role was as CEO of DB Advisors, the $6.5b quantitative trading platform that was a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Bank. Roger graduated from Michigan, and currently sits on the Advisory Boards of the University of Michigan’s College of Engineering and Ross School of Business, and previously sat on the board of the School of Information. Roger also sits on the Board of the Data Science Institute at Columbia University, Roger’s graduate alma mater.

justin golden, Co-Founder

Justin is a managing member of Greatwater Opportunity Capital LLC. Prior to Greatwater, Justin spent the past 21 years in institutional investing including senior roles in alternative asset management. Justin co-founded North Coast Partners LLC, a real estate investment company focused on multi-family assets in Detroit’s neighborhoods. At North Coast Partners, Justin underwrote and acquired over 500 apartments and several strategic land parcels in the Midtown, Boston-Edison and East and West Villages neighborhoods in Detroit. Justin spent 7 years as a managing member and the Chief Operating Officer of Lake Hill Capital Management LLC, which was acquired in 2016 by Leucadia Asset Management LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Jefferies Financial Group Inc. (NYSE Ticker: JEF). Lake Hill managed over $900 million in alternative investments. Prior to Lake Hill, Justin spent 5 years with Bank of America where he was most recently the Head of Institutional Equity Derivatives Sales in London. He began his career in derivatives as an analyst with Deutsche Bank. Justin earned his B.B.A. from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan with a concentration of Corporate Strategy and Entrepreneurship.

Jonathan Opdyke, Co-Founder

Jonathan co-founded HookLogic in 2004 and led the company as CEO until it was acquired by Criteo (NASDAQ: CRTO) for $250 million in 2016. The company pioneered the use of native advertising in ecommerce sites, partnering with industry leaders including Expedia, Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Macy’s, and Costco to create and manage ad programs. To grow the company, Jonathan raised over $40 million in venture capital funding from leading firms including Bain Capital Ventures, Intel Capital and Fung Capital. Prior to acquisition, the New York-headquartered company grew to nearly 200 employees and $200 million in global ad sales. The company also spun out a successful automotive unit, AutoHook, which became a division of Detroit-based Urban Science. After selling to Criteo and transitioning operations, Jonathan assumed the role of Chief Strategy Officer. Prior to HookLogic, Jonathan led international operations for Beyond Interactive, an Ann Arbor-based digital ad agency sold to Grey Advertising, and global web strategy for Xerox in Palo Alto, London, and New York. Jonathan earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s in Industrial and Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan. He established a dental clinic for a new public school in Detroit operated by the U of M School of Education, a scholarship for urban teacher training, a fund to support overseas volunteer projects for engineering students, and a needs-based engineering graduate scholarship.

matt temkin, Co-Founder

Matt is a managing member of Greatwater Opportunity Capital. In addition to his work at Greatwater, Matt was also a founding member of the Opportunity Zone Early Movers Coalition assembled in March 2018 by the Economic Innovation Group (the organization responsible for the Opportunity Zone legislation). Prior to founding Greatwater, Matt co-founded and operated North Coast Partners LLC, a real estate investment company focused on multi-family assets in Detroit’s neighborhoods. At North Coast Partners, Matt helped develop the framework for, and directly contributed to, the sourcing, acquisition, improvement and management of over 500 apartments and strategic land parcels in the Midtown, Boston-Edison and East and West Villages neighborhoods in Detroit. Prior to founding North Coast Partners, Matt practiced law with Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel LLP in New York. At Kramer Levin, Matt worked on a variety of real estate and restructuring matters, including the development of the North Brooklyn waterfront, and the rehabilitation of Ambac Assurance Corp. Matt earned his J.D. from Columbia Law School, and his B.A. from the University of Michigan.

Zachary Brown, Vice President

Zachary has cultivated a deep knowledge of real estate asset management, strategy development, underwriting, and market research. He has overseen portfolios spanning several property types in both the Sunbelt and Midwest – including nearly 4,000 apartment units and more than 8mm square feet of commercial space. Zachary earned a BA in both Philosophy and Political Science from Youngstown State University, as well as an MPA and JD from The University of Akron. He is a member of the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association and is admitted to practice law in the state of Ohio.

Andi McIntosh, Finance

Andi has underwritten over $1.5 billion of new construction and rehab development in Detroit across the multifamily, office, retail, hospitality, and industrial asset classes. In addition to investment analysis, she has worked on capital structuring, debt sourcing, and public tax incentive compliance. After returning to her home state of Michigan, Andi made her own investment in Detroit by purchasing her first home in the city. She holds a BA from Cornell University.

Thea Robbert, Analyst

Thea previously worked as a division manager at a commercial real estate startup, Project Destined, that educates urban youth from around the world in areas of real estate, investment banking, and private equity. In her time there, she led Detroit students in the evaluation of real estate investments involving the value-add acquisition of multifamily assets, and oversaw the structure and development of over 250 corporate partnerships. She holds a BS in Global Supply Chain Management from the Mike Ilitch School of Business at Wayne State University, where she served on the board of several student organizations.

Blake Sheffler, Construction

Blake is Greatwater’s Director of Construction.  With a diverse background ranging from Vice President of Construction for private developers to framing single family homes, he has spent the past decade building nearly $2 billion of real estate focusing primarily in the multifamily sector. His experience spans millions of square feet of renovations and ground up developments. He earned a BS in Construction Engineering from Western Michigan University; LEED Green Associate Certified; and has his Michigan Residential Builder’s license.

Liam Timmis, Asset Management

Liam is a Senior Asset Manager for Greatwater. His expertise spans managing a diverse $230 million real estate portfolio, including assets in office, retail, multifamily, industrial, and hospitality. Beyond asset management, he has evaluated and underwritten over $215 million worth of new acquisitions and developments, focusing on the Midwest. Liam's experience encompasses developing financial models and leading due diligence. Liam graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Marquette University in 2016 where he majored in Finance and Real Estate.

Andrew Wagoner, Asset Management

Andrew is Greatwater’s Director of Asset Management. Andrew underwrote and led the acquisition of over 4,000 apartment units located in Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio. He worked as an asset manager overseeing a 2,000 unit urban core apartment portfolio in Metro Detroit and Kansas City. Andrew is a lifelong metro Detroiter and has spent the last ten years working on execution, growth and performance strategies across several multifamily asset classes. He holds a BBA in Economics from the Haworth College of Business at Western Michigan University and is a licensed real estate broker in the State of Michigan.

Peter Wyatt, Construction

Peter has residential construction experience managing both production and custom projects. With over 100 successfully completed homes ranging from $300,000 to $1 million+, he has expertise in designing, planning, and executing high-level home builds. A graduate of the University of Florida's Rinker School of Construction Management, Peter is a member of the National Association of Home Builders and holds a residential builder's license in Michigan.
